Headless Virtualbox

Just a quick post to say I’ve managed to get a headless VirtualBox instance running on my Linux server. To control it I simply connect to the machine using an RDP client. I broke my Windows DevkitARM installation you see, and installing the Linux version seems easier due to me hating Cygwin.

And, well, I have a Linux server that needs to be used more for computing, rather than file serving. I am also aware that the machine runs Linux, and running another Linux inside it is quite bonkers when I could just install X natively with an RDP server. This way though I don’t pollute my server’s installation with bits of devkit. I can also easily move the installation and not break it.

Later I will try stupid things like connecting to it through an SSH tunnel from somewhere else on the Internet.

It does mean I now have a central devkitARM instance that I can connect to from either my Mac or PC, without having to install things on both machines.
